Constable of Hempstead is commanded to summons David V[an] Cott, Jr. to appear before Richard Jackson on Saturday, the 2nd of July, at "two of the clock in the afternoon" to answer to Jacob Seaman in a plea of trespass on the case for damages of £10 or under. Richard Jackson promises to pay £2, 11 shillings, 3 pence to Edward Cassaty for value received. Witnessed by Joseph Barney and signed by Richard Jackson. Dated 24th of March 1737/8. The back of the promissory note contains what appears to be someone's handwriting exercise. The maxim "One moments plesure brings often times sin and sorowe" is repeated 7 times (though the last word is cut off all but the first line).

One purchase was made on October 17, 1799 by Richard Jackson of 12 yards of cloth for 10 pence per yard, for a total of £1, 2 shillings, 11 pence.
