Constable of Hempstead is commanded to summons David V[an] Cott, Jr. to appear before Richard Jackson on Saturday, the 2nd of July, at "two of the clock in the afternoon" to answer to Jacob Seaman in a plea of trespass on the case for damages of £10 or under. Dated 25th of June, 1796 and signed by Richard Jackson, Justice. Writing on back details execution of summons by Felix Fowler, Constable.

Richard Jackson promises to pay £2, 11 shillings, 3 pence to Edward Cassaty for value received. Witnessed by Joseph Barney and signed by Richard Jackson. Dated 24th of March 1737/8. The back of the promissory note contains what appears to be someone's handwriting exercise. The maxim "One moments plesure brings often times sin and sorowe" is repeated 7 times (though the last word is cut off all but the first line).
