Note
Constable of South Hempstead is required to summons Thomas Smith, store keeper, to appear before Richard Jackson, Justice of the Peace, on the 11th of January at "one of the clock in the afternoon" to answer to William Forabee[?] for damages of £10 or under. Dated 2nd of January, 1796 and signed by Richard Jackson, Justice. Addendum at bottom authorizes and empowers William Forabee[?] to execute the summons "as the Constable aught to do." Writing on back details execution of the summons by Felix Fowler, Constable.
