Note
Constable of Hempstead is commanded to summons John Smith, son of Cornwell Smith, to appear before Richard Jackson, Justice of the Peace, on the 6th of March at "two of the clock afternoon" to answer Benjamin Raynor, son of Joel Raynor, in an action for damages of £10 or under. Dated 25th of February, 1797 and signed by Richard Jackson, Justice. Writing on the back has unknown meaning in context, possibly damages calculation.
