Russell Mueller ERISA Papers
The collection includes notes, memoranda, letters, unique materials not published anywhere, House and Senate bills, and inside committee materials on and about ERISA, and subsequent bills, MEPPA, and SEPPA.
The collection spans the years 1968-1975 roughly, with the bulk concentrated on 1972-1975. The papers consist of two series: ERISA Documents, 1972-1975; and ERISA Development Conference Documents.

Mr. Russell J. Mueller served for 25 years as Actuary and staff member of the House of Representatives. He was the principal spokesman on legislative and technical matters to House Committee on Education and the Workforce (formerly Education and Labor), and the principal advisor to the House Speaker's Task Force on Health. He was instrumental in designing and drafting the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).

The papers have been rehoused in lignin-free legal sized boxes.
