Scope and Contents

Scrapbook relating to Morse's 1890 article about the legal status of a refugee on an American ship in a foreign port, originally printed in the Albany Law Journal. It contains: a newspaper clipping in the Washington Law Reporter from March 12, 1890, praising Morse for his work in international jurisprudence; a report of the Secretary of State and accompanying correspondence in relation to the killing General J. Martin Barrundia; an article titled "Legal Aspects of the Killing of General Barrundia" by William Gray Brooks as printed in the United Service Magazine; a speech by the Honorable John Dalzell of Pennsylvania on the Barrundia affair from February 10, 1891; correspondence and thank you notes for sending various people copies of his article; a translation of a German article snippet about Morse; and an article "The Barrundia Case" by G. L. Rives in 'Truth', published in New York on March 19, 1891.
