Scope and Contents
Morse states that he has been at his current location for three months due to General Major's illness and Yankee raiders. He was recalling Eugene Holmes, who was capture with Morse and prisoners in New Orleans. Holmes was captured again in the District while serving as Captain of a Battery. He was on a steamboat going upriver when it struck a sway; he and ten of his men jumped overboard and escaped. He was recaptured by raiders from Baton Rouge, then escaped again. Porter is only at his location for a day, then traveling to Alexandria.
Morse's location: Westwood near Woodville.
