Note

Sine Datum [circa 1291]: 10 lines, white wax seal depicting a star with legend: "S’ Edmund Paulin," seal tag formed from a presentment by a jury folds, slightly browned, seal a little cracked and rubbed, 100mm by 240mm. Grant, by Edmund Paulyn to Robert Wigg of Great Sampford, clerk: a parcel of his land heading on to the field called Merefield and on to the field called Burefeld. Witnesses: Richard de Mora, Robert de Hevere, Walter Horloc and others. Sanders shows Richard de Mora (later Knight) a direct descendent of William the Conqueror. The seal of Edmund Paulin may be seen on a document dated 01 February, 1291, in the archives of the Priory of Saint Mary and Saint Radegund; Whitwell. [ehr5.jpg]
