Murphy Amendment, opinion
The Murphy Amendment was introduced in 1967 by Senator George Murphy of California. This proposed amendment to OEO legislation would bar any OEO-funded legal services agency from assisting any party in any action against "any public agency of the United States, any State or any political subdivision thereof." The bill was defeated 52 to 36.
