General
This series includes materials related to the Tobeluk--Hootch case. In 1976, CLE attained a settlement in a far-reaching suit on behalf of native children in remote Alaskan villages. The settlement ultimately provided $133 million for school construction and community participation in educational decision-making. By 1981, nearly 100 villages contain new high schools for students who otherwise would have had to leave their Alaskan villages and families and go the lower U.S. to stay in school.
