Scope and Contents
This file contains court papers, news articles and correspondence related to Brown v. Artery. In Brown v. Artery, residents of a low-income housing complex sued the Artery Organization, a Bethesda, Maryland - based developer, for discrimination against the largely Hispanic and black tenants of the Kingsport complex with plans to renovate the apartments and raise rents. The settlement called for Artery to turn 104 of the 406 units into low-income housing. The complex is located in the Arlandria section of Alexandria, Virginia.
