Roisman, Florence Wagman
Biographical Note
Florence Wagman Roisman, a 1963 graduate of Harvard Law School, is William F. Harvey Professor of Law at Indiana University School of Law. Her career in legal services has largely been devoted to low-income housing, homelessness and racial discrimination issues. Positions held include managing attorney in the Law Reform Unit of D.C. Neighborhood Legal Services Project, and attorney for the National Housing Law Project. Roisman has trained many legal aid lawyers and was an editor for NLADA's "Legal Services Federal Practice Manual." Her many awards include the first recipient of the Kutak-Dodds Prize, awarded by ABA's Standing Committee on Legal Aid and Indigent Defendants (SCLAID) and the National Legal Aid and Defender Association (NLADA); the Thurgood Marshall Award by the District of Columbia Bar; and the Servant of Justice Award by the District of Columbia Legal Aid Society.
